Project description

By order of HUESKER, Arthe Civil & Structure made the design for a soil nailing construction at the junction of the Zevenaardijk with the N61 road in accordance with the INSIDE methodology.

For the Sluiskil tunnel project, the N61 road has to be broadened with traffic lanes at the viaduct of the Zevenaardijk. The broadening will take place by steepening and nailing the slope. Steel plates connect the nails with the facing of the slope.

When positioning the anchors, the piled abutments at the Zevenaardijk should be taken into account.

The activities carried out by Arthe concerned a check of the soil nailing based on the macro and micro stability of the ground slope to be steepened. In addition, the anchor length was determined, and the anchors, the dimensioning of the grouted anchors, the facing and the anchor plates were checked.
Furthermore, the influence of the ground nailing on the existing structural work was examined by means of a PLAXIS-calculation.
During the construction phase, Arthe took care of the site engineering, during and after the placing of the soil nailing and the accompanying facing.
